Model Y L expands Tesla's China family-car offering

Tesla's China site lists a three-row, six-seat Model Y L with 751 km CLTC range, extending the Model Y line toward larger family-use cases.

Tesla has listed a three-row, six-seat Model Y L on its China product page, with 751 km of CLTC range, dual-motor all-wheel drive, and a longer wheelbase. The material change is not a relabeling of Model Y, but an extension of Tesla's core SUV toward use cases involving larger families and more passengers.

A larger six-seat version of Tesla's core SUV

Tesla China lists the Model Y L with three rows and six seats, a 4,976 mm vehicle length, a 3,040 mm wheelbase, and 2,539 liters of storage. It is rated at 751 km CLTC range, accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, and uses dual-motor all-wheel drive. Relative to the established perception of Model Y as a five-seat crossover, this is a concrete line extension combining passenger capacity, cargo room, and long-range capability.

The mechanism is a broader fit for household use

A third row and six-seat layout can make Model Y more directly relevant to households traveling with children, older relatives, or larger groups. A longer wheelbase and more cargo capacity do not automatically create demand, but they reduce the trade-offs buyers make among range, seating, and utility. ARK linked the vehicle to family buyers and potential robotaxi strategy; based on public specifications, the observable change today is broader product fit rather than a demonstrated change in robotaxi capability.

Delivery mix will determine the economic value

Tesla reported 480,126 total deliveries in the second quarter of 2026, including 467,762 Model 3/Y deliveries, both about 25% above the prior year. That gives the Model Y line a large installed delivery base, but Tesla has not disclosed Model Y L orders, deliveries, or margins. The strongest countercase is that the variant may redistribute existing Model Y demand among trims rather than expand total demand.

What to watch next

The next observable evidence will be pricing, delivery timing, sales regions, and any separate order indicators for Model Y L. Later quarterly data on Model 3/Y delivery growth, inventory days, and China delivery mix will offer a clearer test. Evidence of higher transaction values or incremental orders would strengthen the expansion case; flat total deliveries alongside trim substitution would weaken it.
